SKELMERSDALE United’s FA Cup dream was shattered at Frickley Athletic on Saturday after the award of a controversial penalty.
United's Shaun Foster was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area in the 72 minute and Danny Walsh scored at the second attempt after keeper Ryan McMahon parried his spot kick.
Tommy Lawson’s men almost forced a replay four minutes later when Michael White headed narrowly wide from Sean McConville’s free kick.
Despite continued late pressure from the West Lancashire side, Frickley hung on to progress to the second qualifying round.
